9/29/2010 Review: Emerging Sectors

It's days like today that make you go "hmmm". The indexes were down slightly but we had a decent thrust on the market monitor.

There was some discussion on the Stockbee forum about sector rotation going on, so a review of our "Emerging Opportunities" list seemed appropriate. These are the stocks that haven't caught up with their brothers over on the Top Sectors list. You can also use this list to find stocks setting up for their next move as they form a base.

With the market monitor at extremes, you need to pick carefully if you decide to enter at all. Below are the charts that caught my interest from the "Emerging Opportunities" list. All of the stocks had a volume surge of 50% or greater today.

Radiant Systems, Inc. (Public, NASDAQ:RADS)
Sideways for a few weeks. Looking for volume thrust with 4% gain.

Advance Auto Parts, Inc. (Public, NYSE:AAP)
Setting up to break-out to new highs? Not much selling going on.

Nice sideways move, needs to break above this range on higher volume to be considered.

Intuit Inc. (Public, NASDAQ:INTU)
Watching this one like a hawk. Coming off earnings surprise back in August. Needs a volume thrust with 4% change or greater to be considered.

Polypore International, Inc. (Public, NYSE:PPO)
Look at that volume today. Someone was buying. Would like it on a larger volume thrust to new highs.
